Stainless steel or surgical steel is the metal that is most often used for piercings in the US. It is unlikely to provoke allergies and can therefore be used even in initial piercing. Two things are to bear in mind while choosing stainless steel jewelry are as follows. Firstly, they may become very cold if worn in low temperatures. Secondly they may be heavy for certain piercings. With smaller jewelry there’s nothing to worry about, but if one has tender skin he or she shouldn’t wear big or bulky steel jewels.
