Piercing tapers are used to stretch the opening of a piercing. They are look like tusks, the only difference being that they are usually straight and used specifically for stretching. One side of the taper is thin while the other is quite thick so the wearer can gradually push the taper through the opening making it wider and wider. This process must be very slow, as stretching faster than one size in two weeks might be dangerous. Rubber rings make it possible to change the position of the taper easily, but hold it firmly fixed when you want them to in order to avoid tearing. Tapers come in different sizes depending on how much you want to stretch you piercing. The material, colour and style also vary, for example you can get a taper that is twisted or bent.
